Hello..
Quick update about my day. Today I attended in a workshop called " look good feel better" at the Royal Victoria Hospital. The purpose is to help those fighting cancer feel better. The instructor walked us through make-up application. As we talked and shared, we became girls enjoying girly things. Seeing women embrace their beauty is so, so wonderful. I was so happy that I went to the session.
Each participant is given a box full of skin products & make up kindly donated by many different cosmetic companies. The workshop is lead by individuals who gladly volunteer their time.
The first step was learning how to take care of your skin. It is important to wear sunblock and to moisturize daily because of chemotherapy treatments. Next how to use concealer, foundation, eye shadow, blush, mascara, lip liner, and lipstick. The nice thing about each box of goodies is they matched the various skin tones in the group. Plus there was a volunteer (for every person) helping you along. After the make-up session was completed, it was time for a discussion on wigs, and how to take care of them. They also had a selection of scarfs, showing you the various ways to tie them around your head.
The best part of this afternoon was there was no sadness on any of the faces, just smiles and laughter :) Of course after doing make up today I had my better half take me out to dinner ;) Yup I really enjoyed my day. Now it's time for me to say my prayers & sleep I have an appointment tomorrow with my oncologist.
